A Community of Learning and Belonging

In addition to the state required academic schedule, Sequoia places an emphasis on learning about Identity and Belonging concepts as applied to all areas of study. Who are we? What is our story? What are the stories of those around us? How can understanding each other help us to better understand ourselves and the world in which we live? We answer these questions by layering rich cultural studies and project-based learning led by subject area experts into every aspect of our standard curriculum. Our specialized instructors create individually meaningful learning opportunities for each child in collaboration directly with the learner and their families, to provide superior academic, social-emotional, and empathy-related outcomes.

We offer a dynamic learning environment sensitive to the interest, processing, sensory, attention, behavioral, and emotional needs of our neurodiverse community. We treat each mind as a strength brought to our educational space and nurture a collaborative learning environment between adults and children. For learners who would rather be inventing new ways to solve problems rather than memorizing facts or for learners who value exploration over conformity, we create space for them to reach their highest learning potential, follow their passions, and develop the skills necessary to share their ideas with others.

Finally, we believe that relationships drive learning. Each of our educators gets to know each of our learners and builds a meaningful, mutually enjoyable connection to form the basis of our educational journey. Through intentional co-production we maximize learner engagement to develop a strong internal drive and joy for learning within each student. Come learn with us!
