We believe an education should address all aspects of being a fully developed person, and that becoming a fully developed person is dependent on our ability to feel like we belong and know how to welcome others into belonging. We honor the power of meaningful relationship connection between and among teachers and students and partner with families to ensure a connected and ever-evolving community. Student-centered programming grounds our commitment to an inclusive and dynamic school culture that supports strong social-emotional and academic growth in our students. Resilience, empathy, and self-reflection guide our practice to cultivate creative, lifelong learners.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Our name comes from two separate but related concepts. The first—sequoia—is the majestic tree which is part of our local forests and one of the most resilient organisms on the planet. Sequoias can withstand great hardship, and form communities to support and protect themselves while continuing to thrive despite what the greater environment may present. One of our goals is to support students in developing a resilience that allows their passions, strengths, and joy for learning to prevail even in the face of external challenges. The second—conservatory—represents a place of learning dedicated to a particular art form. At our school, in addition to academics, we wish to support students in being masters of the art of living. That is, to live fully realized as a self-reflective individual who also strives to understand those around them, and be mindfully intentional in their actions. We believe placing importance on interconnection in combination with a focus on personal and interpersonal resilience is an integral part to maximizing each child’s potential as a learner and as a person.
The three branches in our logo symbolize the interconnected relationship among students, families, and professionals, working together to co-produce an educational experience second to none, while developing a community around each child to foster resiliency and strength for their lifelong learning journey.
